Over the past several years Penobscot Bay Medical Center's Dr. Robert C. Davies  has trained in the revolutionary techniques of minimally invasive vascular surgery, called “endovascular” surgery. These state-of-the-art techniques are similar to those that currently are used in cardiac surgery to treat blockages of the heart.

Dr. Davies also provides advanced wound care for patients with non-healing wounds. Since he also has worked closely with the National Fistula First program, he is able to provide dialysis patients with the best sustainable access for their dialysis treatment.

Some of the services available from Dr. Davies are:

  • Laparoscopy for gallbladder; appendectomy; hernia; and colonic resection for benign conditions.

  • Endoscopy/colonoscopy for cancer screening and polyp removal; and upper endoscopy for esophageal, gastric and duodenal disorders.

  • Surgical procedures for inguinal/incisional hernia repair with Prolene Hernia System (PHS); colonic surgery for carcinoma and benign lesions; minimally invasive breast biopsy; breast conservation intervention for carcinoma and sentinal node biopsy; thyroid surgery for benign conditions and carcinoma; and skin cancer screening and excisional therapy for melanoma, basal cell and squamous cell lesions.

  • Endovascular surgery for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair Stent Graft (EVAR); lower extremity bypass/ angioplasty with Boston Scientific Cryoplasty System; and carotid endarterectomy/carotid artery angioplasty and stenting.

  • Vascular surgery for pacemakers; vena cava filter for pulmonary embolism; care of non-healing wounds; hemodialysis access (National Fistula First Initiative); venous disorders; pericardial window; and long-term vascular access (Mediport).
