Services Overview
Penobscot Bay Medical Center is a 109-bed, full-service community hospital in Rockport, Maine with a Medical Staff of more than 85 physicians. PBMC provides inpatient and outpatient care, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative services, patient and community education, and a full-range of specialty services through the Emergency Department, Special Care Unit, Surgical Services Department, Obstetrics & Gynecology Department, and the Psychiatric Addiction & Recovery Center. More than 95 percent of our medical staff members are board-certified in their practice specialty. In virtually every area of the hospital, our nurses are certified in their special area of nursing practice.
Kno-Wal-Lin Home Care and Hospice is a full service, state licensed home care agency and is Medicare and Medicaid Certified. Services include: skilled home health care, hospice and palliative care, and private duty, client-directed home care support and companion services in patients' familiar home setting. KWL staff provide care seven days per week, 365 days per year, with professional staff available 24 hours a day through our on-call system. KWL offers professional nursing services; physical, occupational and speech therapy; social work services; home health aides, certified nursing assistants, personal care assistants, companion homemakers, and visiting and auxiliary volunteers. Specialty services provided include wound care, ostomy care and continence management through a nationally certified wound, ostomy and continence nurse (WOCN), Home IV Therapy, Hospice and Palliative Care.
Our Help At Home program is a not-for-profit, private duty, state licensed program providing personal care, housekeeping, meal preparation, scheduled transportation, and companionship in the privacy of patients' own homes. Our registered nurses provide an assessment of patients' needs and will customize a plan that will provide the level of care that is required.
The Knox Center for Long-Term Care is an 84-bed long-term nursing care and skilled rehabilitation center providing patients with a loving home where they receive both the sophisticated technical care they require and the dignity and respect they deserve. Our 18-bed skilled rehabilitation unit, provides state-of-the-art nursing care and physical, occupational, speech, respiratory and IV therapies. The Knox Center helps patients regain their strength and independence after a hospital stay, so they will be comfortable and safe when they return home.
Quarry Hill, located in the seaside village of Camden, offers convenient in-town living amid the privacy of 26 landscaped acres. Sponsored by Pen Bay Healthcare, residents can choose from a full range of living options and on-site health services to meet their needs.
Mid-Coast Mental Health Center's clinical staff provides compassionate, high-quality care that is accessible and flexible. Our extensive range of services is designed to support people of all ages who are facing life stresses, behavioral health problems or a mental illness.
Pen Bay Healthcare Foundation is the fund-raising and institutional development member of Pen Bay Healthcare. The Foundation seeks contributions from individuals, foundations and businesses to support the charitable activities of Penobscot BayMedicalCenter, the Knox Center for Long-term Care, Kno-Wal-Lin Home Care and Hospice, Mid-coast Mental Health Center, the Anderson Inn at Quarry Hill, and the Penobscot Bay Physicians & Associates.
The partner organizations of Pen Bay Healthcare (PBH) -- individually and together -- provide comprehensive healthcare services for the people of Midcoast Maine throughout their lives. PenBay Healthcare's partner organizations last year delivered a combined total of more than $2 million in free care to people who did not have insurance and could not pay for medical, social and rehabilitative services.
In addition to raising funds to support the provision of medical care at Penobscot Bay Medical Center, the Knox Center, the Anderson Inn, Mid-coast Mental Health Center, and Kno-Wal-Lin Home Care and Hospice, the Foundation accepts contributions to subsidize the purchase of medical instruments and other essential technical equipment and monitoring devices used for a wide range of medical procedures.
