The Annual Giving program at PBH encompasses gifts from the annual mailing, gifts generated by attendance and sponsorship of the many special fundraising events held throughout the year as well as personal solicitations.Annual Giving: Teamwork

Gifts to honor or memorialize a special individual are also part of the annual giving program. The PBH Foundation has decided to recognize the efforts of individuals that yearly made donations of $1,000 or more to the PBH Healthcare system and developed a "membership club" called the Wellspring Society. This dedicated group of donors recognizes the need for philanthropic support of the PBH system in meeting the needs of the midcoast community.

New to the Philanthropy website is the ability to make an online gift simply by Donate Online: secure, new windowclicking on the "Give Now" button. When you click on the button it will open an interactive form that you may fill out to electronically make a donation.

Designate Your Gift

You may designate your Annual Gift as unrestricted, to be used where the need is greatest, or choose to have it support patient care, education or other fundraising initiatives. As a special tribute, you may also further personalize your gift by making it in memory of or in honor of someone. Our major restricted gifts are listed below, however for more choices and information on other restricted gifts, please contact Sherry Gagne at 594-6711. Donate now.

Current Fundraising Projects

Hospice House
Hospice is a special concept of care designed to provide comfort and support to patients and their families when a life-limiting illness no longer responds to cure-oriented treatments. Provided by a team-oriented group of specially trained professionals, volunteers and family members, the goal of hospice care is to improve the quality of a patient’s last days by offering comfort and dignity. Learn more about Hospice House and related giving opportunities.

Electronic Medical Records
An electronic medical record system allows medical professionals greater efficiency, while enabling them to better care for their patients. This is achieved by centralizing patient medical records and streamlining the diagnostic and treatment processes. Learn more.

Nursing Education, Practice and Retention Program
Pen Bay Healthcare is seeking funding to create a Nurse Education, Practice and Retention Program for developing and implementing staff training that will improve patient care by safeguarding the quality of the nursing workforce. Learn more.

Wellspring Society

In 2003, the Northeast Health Foundation (now the Pen Bay Healthcare Foundation) established the Wellspring Society, an organization composed of people who support Pen Bay Healthcare and its non-profit family of organizations — the Anderson Inn at Quarry Hill, Kno-Wal-Lin Home Care and Hospice, the Knox Center for Long Term Care and Penobscot Bay Medical Center. The Wellspring Society was founded to help maintain and provide the highest quality medical care available—from birth until death—for the more than 50,000 people residing in Midcoast Maine.

Membership in the Wellspring Society honors individuals of vision and commitment who contribute $1,000 or more annually. Wellspring Society members are eligible to participate in cultural, educational and informational events planned for members by the Society.

Through its activities, which include panel discussions on state-of-the-art medical care, new physician gatherings, receptions and tours, Pen Bay Healthcare offers warm appreciation to individuals who have generously supported the organization throughout the year. List of members

Fundraising Events

Shall We Dance
Scheduled in the spring of the year, this fun, wonderful event focuses on raising funds for a featured medical initiative. This annual gala has benefited the PBMC Stroke Program, Kno-Wal-Lin Hospice House, PBMC electronic intensive care (eICU) and charity medical care for people in Midcoast Maine.

Employee Contributions
Continuum of Care: Our patients and clients depend on us. The unconditional compassion, love, caring, expertise and pride we each bring to our work enables us to provide the excellent medical services our community depends on. As health care workers and caregivers we understand that despite highs and lows in our budget, care and services continue daily.
To further the educational opportunities for our staff, to improve our working atmosphere, to provide an extension of ourselves in our health community, PBH is launching an employee annual appeal for the year of 2008. For each division of PBH, we have listed restricted giving opportunities allowing your donation to impact an area of your interest as well as the opportunity to make an unrestricted gift. Even a small donation can make a sizable contribution.

As an example, a deduction of $5 per week allows you to make a $260 annual donation to enhance an area of your interest. Continuum of Care: dedication, caring and compassion to our patients, clients, co-workers and ourselves -- employee donations can make a difference.
