We consult with classroom teachers and special education staff as needed. We serve as a valuable communication link between clinic-based child psychiatry, parents and school staff.
We offer educational and consultation services to school staff, providing information on behavior management, common mental health issues impacting children, and psychological matters as they impact students’ abilities to function socially, emotionally, behaviorally and academically. We partner with school staff to provide a comprehensive team approach to help children reach their academic and therapeutic goals.
Schools can expect an on-site, qualified therapist who can assess, diagnose, and consult with staff who are involved with a child. Expected outcomes include calmer, more attentive students with a wide range of coping and communication skills that follow them beyond the classroom.
Unlike other school based therapy programs, our therapists are available on a year-round basis, which means they are there for children and their families even after the school bell rings in June, providing exceptional continuity and support.
Preschool Based Therapy
Individual level consultation: includes assessment or screening of individual children, direct service to a child or family to ameliorate identified problem behaviors, and making referrals to services for specific children.
Program Level Consultation: improves the overall program or classroom quality, helps the program and its staff address broad issues that affect more than one child, family or worker. These activities include formal and informal training for staff, meeting with staff to discuss overall classroom prevention or intervention strategies, participation in management team processes, helping to select curricula and other organization- wide assistance.
