Local Students Receive CNA Certificates at Quarry Hill
Quarry Hill Retirement Community in Camden played host as Mid-Coast School of Technology awarded certificates to 10 new graduates of its Certified Nursing Assistant program on Thursday, Oct. 22.

Those participating in the graduation ceremony included, clockwise, from upper left: Isabelle Troadec, Rockland; instructor Marian Rector, RN; Tueta Trebicka, Rockland; Lacey Rubenstein, Rockland; Andrea Robinson, Waldoboro; Theresa Peters, Boothbay; Azalea Bemis, Camden; Sareena Deever, Waldoboro; Joseph Fernands, Rockland; Brittany Lessard, Waldoboro; and Jodi Newcombe, Lincolnville Beach.
Mid-Coast's 200-hour CNA curriculum covers a wide range of basic nursing skills. In addition to classroom instruction, students complete 104 hours of clinical training at nursing-care centers at Quarry Hill and the Knox Center for Long Term Care in Rockland.
"We're thankful to Pen Bay Healthcare for the varied, practical experience its two senior-living centers provide for our students," said Marianne Coyle, director of adult education at the Mid-Coast School of Technology. Historically, she said, many of the vocational school's CNA graduates have found jobs within the Pen Bay Healthcare system; about half eventually obtain associate's or bachelor's degrees in nursing.
